so i know noone reads this but i feel the need to bare my sould. I dont care who reads or who get a hold of this, but for a while i have thought that maybe i had a chance with another woman. I am engaged and yet there is this girl at work who drives me crazy. she is beautiful and wonderful and yet she thinks she is something that she is not. I have had two chance or least two chances in my opinion to get into her pants and yet both times i have balked. I guess its my morals as someone pointed out. I know that i could and i know that i would not get in trouble, b/c i do have a get out of jail free card, but i dont know if i am really willing to do that. It would fuck up alot of shit and i dont know if i really can. I love stephanie, but damn this girl is something else. I am not afraid to post this b/c i am pretty sure she does not have this blog and even if she does it all words and well oh well you know i cant help it. I should have done it the first time and the second time, but both times she has been blitzed. this time i had a good buzz, but really how could i. She almost kissed me twice. I know she wanted me to make the first move. I should have, but i didnt. I should have seen what would have happened, but i guess you could say my conscience took over and it prevailed. is that wrong that i didnt do it? or is it better that i didnt do it. a good friend told me i did the right thing and a guy friend told me i should have done it. Lol its funny how different people have different perceptions on things. oh well more to come as i am taking her out again on tuesday. the last day i will prolly ever see her………third time the charm?

life and its general way it tries to fuck me

i post this knowing that no one will ever stumble across this but maybe a select few who i deem should read the innermost thoughts of myself. Once again my life and the events surrounding it do not make sense. How could it be that I told myself I am happy and then something happens to make me question,wonder, and at the same time doubt myself. Have you ever had a dream and thats just its a dream. Something you cant have but at the same time if you could have it well you dont know what your life would be like. Or do you realize that people are really just out to satisfy themselves or only think about themselves. Or are they just so self-centered that they think they are hot shit? Or are they really being genuninely nice and sincere. You never know. You can never actually interpret someone. Well maybe you can. Hell I dont think I can though. I have for a long time wondered how long I would stay here. I think I can stay the long haul, but then again something comes around and kind of pokes me and says “can you really?” Do I want to settle down or do I want to run away? Could I find someone to run away with or do I need to run away alone and just not resurface for a while. Its like sometimes I have a doomsday clock going off in my head. Like I counting down to boring. I know that sounds bad, but once it happens it is just one more step towards non-freedom. One more step towards massive committment and becoming domesticated. I wonder how I will really will feel? Oh well much more from my wandering mind. Probably as early as in the next 24 hours b/c there will be much rejoicing and playing tomorrow night and then the next.

what i think should happen for a college football playoff system in FBS

this is going to be a little long, but if you read the whole thing it makes sense. So please take the time to read this and tell me what you think.

So since President-Elect Barrack Obama was elected he has added something to look forward to once he takes office. In two recent interviews, the first one during Monday Night Football the night before the election, and this past weekend on CBS’s 60 Minutes, the President-Elect has said that there needs to be a playoff system in the Football Bowl Division.

Since then, there has been much discussion on how something like this could be accomplished. Earlier this year there was interest in a plus-one format where there were four ranked teams and they play for the championship. The problem though is the FBS makes money a healthy profit from all the corporate sponsored bowl games. So how do you balance money and still make everyone happy? Well lets dive into this. First off all the BCS conferences need to expand to 12 teams, so each of the power conferences could have a conference champion. I think other minor conferences need to expand also, but we will take a look at the major conferences and their schools. Here are the major conferences who already have 12 teams.

SEC

East Division: Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt

West Division: LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Miss. St.

ACC

Atlantic: Maryland, FSU, NCSU, Wake, Clemson, BC

Coastal: UNC, Duke, UVA, GT, Miami, VT

Big 12

North: Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas St., Iowa State

South: Texas, Oklahoma, OK St., Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor

So those three conferences all have 12 teams. Let’s look at the other three major conferences and start with PAC Ten, which will start off the movement to change the landscape of college football.

PAC Ten

USC, UCLA, Stanford, Cal., Arizona, AZ St., Oregon, Oregon St., Washington, Wash. St.

So in order to convert their conference into a 12 teams, they need two more teams. Boise St. fits this conference perfectly as they have been a nationally ranked team for over five years now. Another smart move for travel would be Hawaii, as most of their would not be as far as going to LA Tech. So then you would split the new Pacific Conference into two different divisions.

North: Washington, Wash. St. Oregon, OR St., Boise St. Stanford

South: USC, UCLA, Cal, AZ, AZ St., Hawaii.

Some people may ask why shouldn’t Utah be considered for the new Pacific conference. Well because Utah would be used help make a new Big 12 and a new Big 10. The Big 12 would still be called the Big 12, but the Big 10 would become the Big Middle Conference or something to that effect. I really don’t know what to call it yet, but someone much more intelligent in marketing and production could produce a suitable name. So Utah would join the Big 12 and join the North Division in place of Iowa St, who would then move to the new BMC conference, which would be separated into two divisions and for time being they will be called East and West.

West: Iowa St. Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern, Illinois

East: Penn. St., Michigan, Michigan, St., Ohio St., Mich. St., Purdue

Five down and one more to go and this one is going to be the toughest one yet and hardest to accomplish because of the “traditions” of college football. The Big East currently has eight football teams in their conference.

Big East: Rutgers, Cincy, West. VA, Louisville, Syracuse, Pitt, South Fla.

So how do you turn this once powerful conference who lost 3 of its members to the ACC a few years ago turn. Well the first logical team would be Notre Dame. Yes I know Irish fans say that it’s a “tradition” that we are INDY. Well you play in a conference in the basketball don’t you? Why is that so that you could have a shot at the national tournament every year. Well if you join the Big East under this new playoff system that I am formulating it would be a chance for you to play for a shot. Villanova would be the next team to join the conference. They already play in the conference as a basketball member, but play as a FCS team in the CAA. So they would make the jump up. The next team that would be added would be Temple and take the MAC back down to 12 teams which will be important later on. So that leaves them with 11 teams and one more football team has to come from somewhere and I think that team will be App. St. and they will join as a football member only and stay in the SoCon for basketball. I know that team has been dominant in FCS, but they are quickly expanding the stadium, and I think the team already thinks it can compete with top teams. Remember Michigan? Yes they would take their lumps for a few years, but more recruits would come there and Coach Jerry Moore could turn this into a great thing for the Mountaineers.

So lets create a divisions. There would be a North and South

North: Notre Dame, Syracuse, UConn., Pitt, Temple, Villanova

South: WVU, South Fla, Cincy, Rutgers, Louisville, App. St.

So that’s how all six BCS conferences could be converted to 12 team league to qualify for a conference championship game at the end of the year. The six winners would automatically qualify for a shot at national championship with an eight-team playoff. The other two teams could come from the rankings, and if a school from the other conferences finishes the year in the top 10 they will automatically qualify for the postseason and take away one at large berth. The other teams in their conferences who don’t qualify for the national title will still play bowl games, and the Big 4 bowls would be the hosts for the first round games and try to put traditional opponents against each other Rose Bowl would be PAC Ten Champion vs. BMC champion, Orange would be ACC vs. Big East, Fiesta would be SEC vs. Big 12 or something like that or try to make it where most fans would follow their team in order to create revenue. The next two games for the national semifinal would be at those sites and rotated on a yearly basis. That means they would host the national semis every other year and be able to make double profit every three years. The national championship would be played at sight to be determined by the NCAA. Create a new sight for the championship or rotate the spot like the Superbowl. Something I haven’t thought about where it could be hosted. But the NCAA and the schools would still make money because the bowls would sponsor the first round and then commercials and advertising would make money for everyone involved for the semis and the finals. This is just what I think, and I have more to come, but I am getting tired and need to go to bed.

UNCP football

This is what I think UNCP football should do in the new few seasons. They had a great 9-1 record this year in their only second season of football. However the Braves did not have that great of a Strength Of Schedule against D2 football teams. Their opponents were only a combined 16-48 and Wingate had half of those wins with 8. Yes I am very proud of my school, but we need to join a conference soon. Should UNCP stay in the division 2 ranks as an independent and takes it chances of scheduling tough opponents just to qualify for the playoff or should the Braves move up to FCS? The only viable option for the Braves in D2 is the CIAA because SAC teams earlier this year voted down a proposal for UNCP to become a football only member. A few teams did not like the idea, and I am afraid that they were afraid that in a few years the Braves will contend for the title year in and year out because we are a public university and most of our student athletes could afford to come here versus a private institution. The CIAA I believe will not be a good fit for UNCP. First of all we are not an HBCU and they already have plenty of teams, plus we would probably have to be accepted as a full member and not just football only. Our basketball teams would never rise out of the cellar. So I think the best and viable option for the Braves is to play as an INDY for at least 3-4 seasons and then move up to FCS. The Braves can generate enough support to from tuition, private donors, Chancellor Meadors,alumni and Braves Club, who I believe has made UNCP a better place with football. Meadors said that one of the things he wanted to have in the first seven years was a football teams and now after this year it’s a reality and a blessing in disguise. UNCP will take its lumps for a few years, but hey if Coastal Carolina can join FCS and D1 we can too. But lets take a look at what a Big South Conference would look like for the Black and Gold.

Well Imagine this. I think the Big South will expand in a few years and they will drop Stony Brook (geographically they just don’t make sense so that would leave the conference with Liberty, Presbyterian, Coastal, VMI, Gardner Webb, Charleston So. That means that a move by Campbell, North Greenville, UNC-Pembroke, Davidson, Jacksonville and NC Central would creat a great conference with schools that are relatively the same size and not that much travel. Farthest trip might be VMI/JU. That would be cool if that could happen, but once again I am just speculating.

Campbell, Davidson, and JU moves to cut down on travelling as the Pioneer League has opponents all over the country

NCCentral would no longer be an independent and give the conference another public university.

Savanah St. if NCCentral does not join would also benefit because it is also an independent. The pieces are starting to fit and our school could one day say we play D1 football.

NGU would move up with UNCP. The Crusaders already had a few FCS opponents on their schedule this year and just needs to get some more support from their administration and their donors and this could be a very big reality.

You would then create two divisions. I dont have a creative name for the two divisions, but it would break down like this.

Libery, Presbyterian, NGU, Davidson,Campbell, VMI

UNCP, JU,NCCentral,Coastal,Gardner-Webb, Charleston So.

Thats three old member/3 new members for each division. Their would either be a championship game or the NCAA would let each division winner qualify for the playoff, because I think in future years the NCAA will expand the playoffs in FCS to 24 teams, just like D2 and D3.

Well many people may not know, but I am an avid sports fan. This season I have been following D2 football. It may not be as glamorous as D1, but hey its still football and fans at these schools love it. My own team UNCP in its second season in existence went 9-1 and a few of the Braves play should win postseason awards from D2football.com Indy award and the ICAA. But now back to the real reason why I have this posted. I am going to predict the first round of the playoffs lets see how I do.

Thoughts and Projections about this year’s D2 football playoffs:

I think the winner of the NC will come out of the bottom half of the region. There are two monsters lurking towards a potential shootout. That’s right UNA against ACU, but I am not so sure it could go that way. But here it goes. I am going to predict this weeks winners and the scores of these games. I would like to officially start a NC pickem.

So here we go.

Starting at the top of the bracket.

Seton Hill rolls into AIC and the Yellow Jackets pick up a tough home win, against the WVIAC representative. 28-23

The Owls of SoCu come into the game against West Chester (losers of the PSAC championship) and are upset at home. The Owls are riding high after they beat the Yellow Jackets last week and are looking to take that momentum into a game that will be decided in the last few minutes. Owls 23-20

Chadron State takes care of business at home, but it will be a tough game against a Wayne State team that hasn’t lost since Sept. 20, but the Eagles haven’t lost since a Week 2 loss against Pitt State. Eagles 28-24

Ashland does want to get caught looking ahead to possible rematch against GVSU and must take care of business at home against the Bulls of Minnesota State whose last loss was on October 4 at Augustana. I see Ashland winning another close one to set up a rematch against the Lakers, but its going to be a shootout. 45-42

Now down to the other half of the bracket.

Carson-Newman backed its way into the playoffs this year, and should be really thankful that the NCAA moved the CIAA into Super Region 1 or the FSU Broncos could have been playing this game. But anyway I do not see the defending national champions to lose to a defense that has been beat up two consecutive weeks by Wingate’s J.D. Moore and TC’s Corey Russell. Valdosta wins a shootout 45-42

The next game is an intriguing matchup that has Tusculum playing its third straight elimination game. They had to beat three straight opponents just to be to qualify for the postseason, but they are playing at home and Russell is playing is heart out. I pick the Pioneers over the Rams with Russell passing for 300 yards and 4 TDs. 38-24

The next game features Pitt St. against Nebraska-Omaha. I suspect the Jungle will be rocking as the Gorillas look to set up a revenge game against NWMS, but the Gorilla faithful don’t need to overlook UNO because they only beat them by a touchdown earlier this year, but I fear that the crowd and the team will send them home packing with a game that wont be as close as the final score will dictate. 38-27

Now here is the most interesting game I believe of the opening week. The Wildcats of Central Washington come into this game only losing game and that was on the road against FCS Montana ( who frequently makes the FCS playoffs) and only lost by one score. West Texas has only lost one game this year and that was to the #1 team in the region ACU. This game I fear could come down to simply who has the ball last, but I think that the Wildcats could come away with the victory based on their early season trip to Montana and that atmosphere. Wildcats run the red-zone drill to perfection and win 42-41.

This is about Convocation…..Convocation was at GPAC or Givens Performing Arts Studio for those of you who do not attend our wonderful University…..This is my interpretation of what I should have done for this exercise….Enjoy

Anecdotes about Life

Andrea Mosby-Jones tells stories about her life to connect with young people across the country. On August 27,2008 Jones visited the UNCP campus for convocation.

She kept the audience enthralled with her many stories.

Many of those stories involved her son, whom she had at a very young age of 16.

That did not stop her from pursuing her dreams though.

“In life make sure you always have a Plan A and a Plan B,” Jones said.

So at that young age she did not let her dream of pursuing a higher education elude her. She became a single mom and worked her way through college.

Jones has a great affection for her son. She told the audience of several times her son has impressed her and shown her that he will be a “good man.” Her son has even surprised her with how much he cares about his mom. She recalled a certain event where he son gave her flowers on Valentines Day and told her that he didn’t know if she had a date that day, but she could always count on him to lover her.

The road wasn’t easy for Jones during college but she persevered and received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver. Mrs. Jones decided she was not done with school though and earned a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado.

But during graduate school she began to speak at local communities and wherever she was asked to speak. It was during this time that realized what she wanted to do with her life. She now has been speaking to students, businesses, and community groups now for 17 years. She encourages young people to dream about their future life and not be scared about what happens in the “real world”.

She warned students about friends that would lead you away from their goals.

“A person without a future doesn’t mind taking out another person with one.”

But she also told students that they should not fear life.

“Fear is real, but that not is your reality. A person is old when reality takes the place of your dreams.”

She has a motto for her life.

“Life is a mystery. Life is beauty. Life is a journey. Life is purpose, so why not fulfill it?

So class of 2012 remember that and fulfill your time here at UNCP.

So for my first assignment in my feature writing class we had to interview a fellow student and write a feature article about them.

I dont think I did a very good job…….but here it is anyway…..enjoy if you like.

When Jessica Bachovin graduates in May with a degree in Public Relations, she hopes to travel the world.

Jessica, who is the PRSSA secretary, already is a traveler you might say though.

She was born in Philadelphia, but she moved to Delaware when she was six months. That trend continued when she decided to go to college.

She chose the University of North Carolina in Pembroke, because she always wanted to leave Delaware.

“I have always wanted to leave Delaware to go to college. My family used to vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so I have always liked North Carolina.

She also explained that is was much cheaper to come here to North Carolina and pay out-of-state tuition versus paying tuition in-state in Delaware.

“It is so much cheaper to come to college here, than in Delaware. I am saving a lot of money and getting a good education.

Does she miss anything about home? She certainly does.

“I miss my mom’s home-cooking and I sometimes miss my dog.

Jessica got involved with her PR work because a friend thought she might be good at it.

She found out that she wanted to do this for a career and switched her major from Business.

“I am doing this because I really enjoy doing Public Relations work.”

Jessica will leave Pembroke soon, but she will always remember her time at Pembroke.

“When I first came here it was a culture shock, but I have been surprised how friendly the people in the South really are.”

this is my second attempt at a post. I say this because I am getting used to the software and features of this website. So I had something kind of thought provoking on my first post, but I messed up and deleted it. So once again my faults rush foward and I cant take control of my surroundings. To some of you this may sound like I may have lost it. To others you dont know what to think. My attempt is to not be understood. My attempt is to be accepted. My attempt is to survive. That attempt lately has been futile.

But back to the present tense in hand. I just finished a movie. I should be finishing my homework and my attempts at that have been drawn by other fancies. The Departed. WOW. The ending was interesing. The movie itself was phenomenal. It has definitely entered my “list” I mean not that by any means I am important enough to have a say in what should or shouldnt be a “good” movie. I will now file this film away in my “I could watch this movie again and I would enjoy it again” But like I said I am not a film critic, but I like to watch movies based on many criteria. Good plot, good transition…..do i connect with the characters…..do the shots or action the director/cinematographer presents make sense. This movie had it all. I do believe that this is one of Nicholson’s best movies, granted I have not seen all his films, but this was one good. THis whole damn movie was good. Good that really actually doesnt give it justice. Actually all I can say is good, because I cannot find the right word to express how I feel.

Allright thats enough about the movie….since this is my first “actual” posting but my second attempt let me explain what will be going on for about the next few months. The next few months will probably be the hardest of my life. I have come to a crossroads and I feel that I need to go one way or the other. I know which way I should go, but at the same time my mind races like the freight train that come by apartment every morning around 4. Like I hear now. So in the next few months I will be posting a variety of interesting views, articles, musings, feelings, honesty, and emotion…….Whew I think that wraps up about everything. They say a blog is a place where you have your “voice” heard. So I am going to step up to the “microphone” and…………………………………………………………………………………………………..
